AC Hotels by Marriott to open first Indiana property

Thompson Thrift announced that AC Hotels by Marriott has committed to open its first Indiana location at The Union at Fishers District in the Indianapolis suburb of Fishers. The hotel will be owned and operated by local hotelier Dora Hospitality.

The 135-room hotel, on top of approximately 15,500 square feet of retail space, will have meeting spaces, fitness equipment and European-inspired beverage and food offerings in the AC Lounge® and AC Kitchen. The new hotel is expected to accommodate the expanding business and leisure travel needs of the rapidly growing Fishers suburb.

"We are thrilled to introduce Indiana's first AC by Marriott hotel to the vibrant and growing Fishers District," Dora Hospitality President Vincent Dora said in a statement. "As a third-generation Indiana hotelier with deep roots in this community, we understand what makes Fishers such an exceptional destination. With four other hotels already thriving in Fishers, we are confident that this addition will not only elevate the local hospitality landscape but also provide visitors and residents with an unparalleled experience."

Dora went on to say that the upscale, European-inspired property will have a blend of modern sophistication and timeless comfort that has made AC Hotels a customer favorite for both short and extended stays.

Located near Interstate 69 and 116th Street, The Union is one of five developments within the expansive master plan of Fishers District. In addition to the AC Hotel, the mixed-use development will create a true urban experience with approximately 57,000 square feet of retail, restaurant, and entertainment space, 251 luxury apartment homes and 70,000-square-feet of Class A office space.

"The fundamentals of this area continue to be compelling for a wide variety of uses," said Ryan Menard, vice president of development for Thompson Thrift. "Fishers District has become a destination of choice for consumers, tenants and travelers, and we are excited to be working with many new-to-market concepts at The Union. The hotel addition further enhances synergy between retail and office users while elevating the overall experience."

Thompson Thrift first began work on the Fishers District development in 2015 and received a Monumental Award from the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce in 2020 for the first phase. Once completed, the $750 million development will span 123 acres and will offer an array of multifamily, townhome, hotel, office, dining, shopping, and entertainment options. The five developments will be connected by well-designed walking paths, allowing residents and visitors to explore the master-planned development on foot.
