Rosewood to build first Dominican Republic resort

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts will develop its first property in the Dominican Republic, Rosewood Punta Cana, in partnership with Grupo Puntacana. The property is set to open in 2029.

Occupying 50 acres including 400 meters of untouched beachfront, Rosewood Punta Cana's design will channel the local landscape and legacy as inspiration. The property will have 78 suites, including several overwater villas. Eight dining venues will range from a specialty restaurant to a destination bar to a beach grill. Asaya, Rosewood’s wellness concept, will provide treatments and therapies that leverage indigenous ingredients and techniques. The center will be home to six treatment rooms, a hair-and-nail salon, a dedicated retail space, a juice bar, an outdoor swimming pool and a fitness studio. The property will have a fully serviced beach, an outdoor sports facility, indoor and outdoor event spaces and the Rosewood Explorers children’s club.

Rosewood Punta Cana will be located within the Puntacana Resort, a 15,000-acre master-planned community that includes residences, resorts, retail and recreational facilities. Highlights include a PGA Tour championship golf course, a tennis center envisioned by legendary designer Oscar de la Renta, an equestrian center and an ecological reserve.

“The Dominican Republic is a tropical paradise that celebrates the diversity of Caribbean culture,” Radha Arora, president of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, said in a statement. “Long renowned for its beautiful beaches, world-class golf courses, and high-end residences and resorts, we are eager to bring Rosewood’s unique approach to the island and set a new benchmark for luxury hospitality in the region.”

"As we embark on this exciting partnership with Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, and the development of Rosewood Punta Cana, we are reinforcing our shared vision to position the Dominican Republic as a premier luxury destination for the world's most discerning travelers,” said Frank Elias Rainieri Kuret, CEO of Grupo Puntacana. "This collaboration represents a commitment to excellence, bringing worldclass service and unparalleled experiences to the region. We are proud to work with Rosewood in creating a sanctuary where every detail reflects the essence of sophisticated luxury, while embracing the beauty and spirit of our beloved country."

When the resort launches in 2029, it will join sister properties Rosewood Baha Mar, Rosewood Bermuda, Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth, and Rosewood Little Dix Bay, as well as additional pipeline projects in Barbuda and The Bahamas, within the regional Caribbean Atlantic collection.
