Aparium Hotel Group taps former Hyatt exec as COO

Developer and operator Aparium Hotel Group has tapped Paul Devitt as the company’s new president and chief operating officer.

Devitt joins Aparium following a 32-year tenure with Hyatt Hotels Corp., where he most recently was senior vice president of operations for the Americas.

He led performance strategy across all segments of Hyatt's business, including full-service managed hotels and a range of luxury, independent soft-branded and hard-branded properties. Devitt played a key role in the integrations of Hyatt’s acquisition of Two Roads Hospitality, a move that expanded the company’s presence in the lifestyle category and deepened its connection to independent-minded travelers. He also played a role in advancing Hyatt’s food and beverage strategy, developing partnerships with emerging and local chefs to create restaurant and bar experiences.

“When we set out to find a new president and COO, we weren’t just seeking operational excellence, we were looking for a leader who could evolve the business while staying true to what makes Aparium different,” Mario Tricoci, founder and CEO of Aparium Hotel Group, said in a statement. “From our first meeting, it was clear Paul is that person. He brings clarity, calm and vision, along with the rare ability to scale high-touch hospitality without losing its soul.”

In his new role at Aparium, Devitt will lead operational strategy and team development across the growing portfolio. The company recently opened hotels in Alexandria, Va. (Hotel Heron); Atlanta (Hotel Granada); Denver; and Seattle (Populus).

Devitt earned his degree in Hospitality and Tourism from the University of Wisconsin–Stout and has held leadership roles with tourism organizations across the country.
