Vacation rental company, hotels appoint new GMs

Three hotels and a vacation rental company appointed general managers in the past week. 

The Chatwal, New York

The Chatwal, New York, part of Hyatt's Unbound Collection, appointed Sebastian Gurevich hotel manager. Gurevich has more than 17 years of leadership experience spanning nine Hyatt properties in seven cities, including the brand’s global flagship location Grand Hyatt New York in midtown Manhattan.

Gurevich began his hospitality career with Hyatt Hotels in July 2007 as a front-desk agent at the Grand Hyatt San Francisco, rising through various roles to his most recent position as area director of operations overseeing Hyatt Centric Beale Street Memphis. From there, he led the launch of the first Caption by Hyatt. Gurevich was a key player in the launch's operational oversight and leading of both properties. Earlier roles include director of operations at the Resort at Squaw Creek, where he oversaw rooms, spa and golf, and the Royal Palms Resort and Spa in Phoenix, where he oversaw the property’s $32 million renovation.

Limelight Denver

Limelight Denver, the first urban hotel concept from Aspen Hospitality—a division of Aspen One—appointed Kim Corrigan general manager. Corrigan brings more than three decades of experience in hotel management, hotel rebranding, guest services, team development and revenue generation to Limelight Denver.

Previous roles with Sage Hospitality included general manager of The Halcyon Hotel in Denver, The Blackstone in Chicago and The Curtis Hotel in Denver. Other previous positions include general manager for The Gwen in Chicago as well as general manager at Windsor Capital Group and director of marketing and operations at Starwood Vacation Ownership.

Paradise Retreats

Nocturne Luxury Villas, owner and operator of villa rental companies in the U.S., the Caribbean and Mexico, appointed  Louise Astbury general manager of Paradise Retreats in Santa Barbara.

Astbury joins Paradise Retreats from Inspirato, where she was the director of assets since 2022. Previously, she spent 14 years with Spanish Peaks Mountain Club and Montage International (Big Sky, Montana), where she was general manager (2018-2021), club director (2016-2018, and member services director (2008-2016). Astbury has also held positions with Savvy Destinations, Exclusive Resorts, and the Colorado Hotel and Lodging Association.

The Westin Los Angeles Airport

The Westin Los Angeles Airport, which wrapped a major renovation at the start of 2024, appointed Steve Pufpaf general manager. Steve has spent more than 35 years with Marriott International in sales, revenue management, marketing and hotel operations.

After beginning his career as a bellman at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa in Indian Wells, Calif., Pufpaf went on to work in housekeeping, front office, guest services, banquets, catering and event management. He has held various leadership positions, including general manager, director of sales and marketing, market sales leader for Southern California, general sales manager for the Southwest Sales Office, and vice president of sales for the Southwest. Most recently, Pufpaf was the vice president of sales, Marriott Select Brands West.
