Marriott opens new Miami Moxy

After its soft opening in October, the Moxy Miami Wynwood has officially opened its doors in the city's Wynwood Arts District. Surrounded by art galleries, entertainment, dining and shopping and next door to the murals of Wynwood Walls, the new-build, eight-story hotel is a 50/50 joint venture partnership between Baywood Hotels and Dolphin Capital Partners with architecture by Miami-based Kobi Karp Architecture and Interior Design. Interior design is from New York-based iCrave, a Journey studio.

The hotel has 120 rooms, a 24/7 fitness center, and a second-floor lobby with a full-service bar that doubles as the hotel’s check-in area.

The lobby has modern furniture and statement lighting with board games, foosball, poker sets and art and design books available for guests to read. Bar Moxy also offers breakfast and a Bevvies and Bites dinner menu serving signature cocktails as well as bites. There is also 24/7 availability of the Grab N Go menu.

Guestrooms come in five configurations that pay homage to Miami via names—King (Graffiti Grove); Double Queen (MIA Playground); Double Queen and Bunk (La Familia); Quad Twin (Let’s Bunk) and Mojito XL (King Suite). Ranging from 211 to 592 square feet, the rooms at Moxy Miami Wynwood maximize limited space. Signature features include Murphy desks, under-bed storage and outlets for smartphones and other electronic devices. Bathrooms have signature Moxy hairdryers, modern lighting and handheld steamers.

The Moxy also has a 3,000-square-foot outdoor gathering space off the second-floor lobby as well as a small meeting room, The Timeout Zone, that can accommodate up to 36 guests. The fitness center is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The hotel has eight murals specially commissioned for the property, created by street artists from around the world. Lady Pink and Vance DNA contributed work to both the interior and exterior walls of the building.

Marriott International’s Moxy brand launched in 2014 and now has more than 100 properties in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.
