Amber Thompson, director of housekeeping at Evermore Orlando Resort, is set to attend Hotec Operations, an annual conference presented by Questex, the parent company of Hotel Management. At the conference—scheduled this year for May 19-21 at the Caribe Royale Orlando in Florida—buyers meet one-on-one with hospitality-focused suppliers to learn about new products and services and to keep up to date on emerging trends.
Ahead of the conference, Thompson discussed how hotels are integrating technology into their operations and how sustainability has become a core value of travelers.
1. What are you most excited about for your company in 2025 (and beyond)?
In 2025 and beyond, we’re most excited about continuing to create unforgettable moments for our guests by expanding experiences that bring families and friends together in meaningful ways. From innovative new amenities and immersive resort programming to thoughtfully designed spaces that embrace togetherness. We’re committed to raising the bar on what an Orlando stay can feel like.
2. What are some of the biggest operations-related changes you’ve seen in the hotel industry over the past year?
Over the past year, one of the biggest operations-related changes in the hotel industry has been the continued integration of technology to enhance both guest experience and team efficiency. From mobile check-ins and digital concierge services to smarter back-of-house systems, these tools are helping streamline operations while still allowing for personalized service. At the same time, there’s a renewed focus on thoughtful staffing and cross-training, ensuring teams are empowered, agile and able to deliver exceptional hospitality in a more dynamic travel landscape.
3. What are some trends you think will have staying power beyond 2025?
Several trends emerging in hospitality today are poised to have real staying power beyond 2025. Personalization powered by data—tailoring experiences, communications and amenities to individual guest preferences—will continue to elevate expectations. Sustainability, both environmental and social, is no longer a niche initiative but a core value for travelers and brands alike. And finally, the blending of leisure and lifestyle—resorts offering meaningful experiences, community connection, and wellness alongside relaxation—will remain a defining expectation of modern travel.
4. What do you hope to accomplish at Hotec this year?
At Hotec this year, I’m looking forward to connecting with like-minded industry leaders, discovering innovative solutions that can elevate the guest experience, and exploring partnerships that help us continue to grow with intention.
Hotec Operations will take place May 19-21 at the Caribe Royale Orlando.
