Philadelphia Sheraton begins $60M+ renovation

The Sheraton Philadelphia University City Hotel has embarked on a more than $60 million renovation scheduled to be completed this year. Following the renovation, the property—which is owned by the University of Pennsylvania and operated by Davidson Hotels—will have 332 updated rooms and suites, a lobby library, new dining options and a multi-use outdoor terrace and modern meeting space.

"We know the importance of providing exceptional experiences, and this renovation is a testament to our commitment to the hotel's guests," said Michael Bennett, general manager for Sheraton Philadelphia University City Hotel, in a statement. "The community-focused updates will offer a sophisticated escape, blending timeless elegance with modern amenities."

The hotel's renovation—which is funded by the hotel—is designed to provide a modern ambiance that captures a timeless, sophisticated spirit, according to Gensler, which spearheaded the redesign. Guestrooms will be revitalized with new textiles, accents, and upgrades, while the hotel's public spaces—including the lobby, Porte cochere, corridors and Club Lounge—will undergo a complete transformation.

Additional enhancements include a remodeled 24/7 fitness center and a new outdoor deck for lounging, exercise, games, and events. Dining will be elevated by the &More Café, a signature Sheraton offering.
